Yes, it is. The key is to practice daily what you learn in class. Practicing daily for about 15 to 20 minutes will ensure good progress. If you really want to master the skill of playing a musical instrument, practice sessions are a necessity. Learning a musical instrument is related to the functionality of your muscle memory. Muscle memory is that long-term memory that helps us to perform a set of tasks upon repeatedly performing it. Playing an instrument does not require conscious thought but storing it in your muscle memory by repeating the same cycle over and over again. The more you practice, the more easily you seem to memorize your instrument-playing skills. When you play an instrument again and again, you are developing the skill set to synchronize your bodily movements required to play that instrument without any conscious thought. In the modern method of music teaching, it is recommended that schools host only 1 teaching session per week. WeGotGuru is one of the few schools in Bangalore that have employed this technique and have yielded fruits of success. Students who are experts in playing different instruments after training with us for the past 4-5 years are testimony to the aforesaid method.
Offline classes are group classes with a batch of 4-5 students and these sessions are 1 hour long. The online classes are private 1-on-1 classes with each session being 30-40 mins in duration. Also, in online classes, you have the opportunity to screen record your class sessions which you can later on as references for any doubts that'll you've have on the lesson taught.
This is a modern method of teaching different from that of other music schools where they encompass almost 10 students per batch.Teachers can give Individual attention to the students this way whereas students can focus on their lessons more without much distraction. At the same time, the presence of 4-5 students in a batch encourages cross learning culture. The classes are always lively and students would enjoy the process of learning from each other. WGG has yielded good results with the above methodology of teaching and would recommend the same for a longer time to come.
You can prepare for offline classes by bringing the required study materials the teacher has asked to bring like your notebooks, pens and, your instrument. In the case of drums, students must bring their own pair of drumsticks. Also, make sure you've practiced the previous lessons given by the teacher. You can also bring water bottles and snacks for yourself, to have prior or post classes.
To ensure a good online class session, you must have a good internet connection to avoid any latency or lags. You will beed a working pc, laptop, tablet or phone to attend the online class session. It will be better if you have a quiet place with little to no distractions so you can focus on your class. Also, keep your instrument, notebooks, pens etc, ready for the class. Also, make sure you've practiced the previous lessons given by the teacher.
Yes, we do have WhatsApp class groups where students, parents, and teachers can participate in. These groups are designed to share information, doubts, assignments, assessments, and announcements. You can use the group to inform the teacher if you will not be attending class or to plan a compensation class.
The student has to pay the full month's fees even if they happen to miss out on some classes in a month. The school provides them time and opportunity to make up for the missed classes as long as the fee payments are made in a timely manner. The teachers would provide makeup classes on other days of the week when they have free time slots. The student and the respective teacher will have to discuss amongst themselves and find a convenient timing. Thus the classes missed by the student are compensated. If the student misses 2 months of class, then he/she would have to re-register before joining the class.
Yes the learning material would be the same but the progress of the sessions differs based on the individual learning curve. The time required to cover a lesson may vary depending on his/her own personal abilities. Some students might learn quicker than others so the teachers would make them progress to the next level. They would help the students with lower pace to progress steadily as well. To be a good performer, how efficiently one practices an instrument matters more than how fast he/she picked up a lesson. Without repeated practice for 1 week, a student may fall short of understanding lessons taught in the next class.
Ideally, we encourage students to stick to 4 classes on a monthly schedule and it’s worked out well for most of them. In the case of some months, students also get a 5th class for free. For example, you take guitar lessons on Monday but instead of 4 Mondays, there are 5 Mondays that month. In the case of students needing extra classes, we can arrange for that by discussing it with the concerned teacher. Depending on the frequency of the classes, the fees will vary.
